Cats in clothes...

I'm certain it's the one our cat, Cuddles, was pondering when we put this on her.

I mean it’s dog attire...made specifically for dogs.  It has pictures of dogs on it, & it says “Woof!”  Clearly, we’re abusive...in her mind.

We’re actually not intentionally abusive.  But we needed something that would potentially prevent her from licking a wound near her back legs, & unfortunately for her...or possibly fortunately...Cat outfits are rare.  

Turns out the cats I had when I was little weren’t the only ones who didn’t appreciate being dressed up...in doll clothes, in particular.

So, this was our attempt.

We had basically enough time to take a “piss off” picture before she worked herself out of it...Minutes later...strolling back into the room announcing, “Nice try.  I’m a frickin cat.” 

I know not everyone is a cat lover like I am.  But one of the things I appreciate most about them is their indifference to approval, a trait I appreciate in people, too. 

But it’s relatively uncommon, don’t you think? 

Maybe we’re people pleasers, always attempting to do/be/provide what others want or expect...or at least what we THINK they want/expect. 

Maybe we’re just trying to fit in. 

Maybe we’re comparing ourselves on social media, thinking, “She just got a new car last year.  Why can’t I get a new car?”   

But do we even WANT a new car?  

Do we truly WANT to be like these people? Do we even enjoy them?

Next time you find yourself people pleasing, trying to fit in, comparing yourself to others or possibly all three, ask yourself, “Why?  What am I really trying to achieve here?”  

If it’s for anyone other than yourself, stop & consider the consequences of always pleasing others, fitting in & doing what everyone else does.

There’s only one you, & you only have one life.  Spend it wisely.
