It's so hard sometimes, isn't it?

Jan 05, 2021

Have you watched any Netflix this year?  Or Hulu or Amazon Prime?

I'm actually not much of a TV watcher.  Wait...Prior to March 2020...I wasn't much of a TV watcher.

But somehow during the first part of the year I found myself slipping from one episode of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel to the next from 9PM on...With everyone home, my whole routine was shot.  So how & why would I possibly withstand the anticipation?

Would Miriam & Joel get back together?

What would happen with Susie Myerson & Sophie Lennon?

Luckily, new episodes of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel couldn't be filmed when planned due to quarantine, which was actually a relief.

But it's so hard sometimes, isn't it?

Especially this past year?

To not just want to zone out on the couch?

Possibly with a bag of Ruffles, Anderson Erickson French onion dip (the 8th wonder of the world) & a glass...bottle...whatever...of wine?

Or a pack of Aldi's $.98 PB fudge cookies that taste just like Girl Scout cookies?  (Seriously.) With a gallon of milk?

I'm exaggerating (slightly), but I'm absolutely serious when I say it has taken willpower to walk past this stuff at the store...& some days it has taken avoiding the entire section...or even the store.

I've also ignored several friends' Netflix series suggestions for this very reason.  Maybe I can do it in 2022?

How about you?  What have some of your 2020 go-to's been?

And what do you want to change in 2021?

Unfortunately, it will take intentionality.

Otherwise we'll do what we've always done.  Because that's what our brains want us to do.

Our brains want us to do what's easy, what's comfortable...what's "safe".

Our brains want immediate gratification.

Damn brains.

So if you want to do something different...if you want to head into 2021 with a different mindset, let me know. Let's see if I can be a resource.

Have an excellent new year.
