Who do you spend most of your time with?Apr 29, 2021
Who surrounds you?
Who do you spend most of your time with?
How much of your life is based upon the opinions or needs of those people?
What are they saying?
“What makes you think you can do that?” or “How exciting! I know you can do it!”
“I just don’t get it. Why would you feel that way?” or “I’ve gone through that, too, & here’s how I addressed it.”
You are the average of the FIVE people you spend the most time with.
So if 90% of your time is spent with people who are negative 95% of the time, it takes a whole lot of positivity to outweigh that. 🙂
You can’t change the actions of others, but you can change your reaction to them.
You can create boundaries.
You can decide to put more of our energy into relationships with positive people...people who energize you rather than drain you.
Does this require you to push every negative person you know out of your life?
No. But it does require you to recognize your energy around certain people & develop boundaries, if necessary.
Perhaps rather than a monthly lunch with Negative Naomi, you cancel your recurring lunch date & meet at Subway every few months instead.
Saying “yes” to Negative Naomi requires you to say “no” to other things in your life, including the things that energize you.
Rather than sharing every detail of your new yoga studio with your uncle who owns a dry cleaning business & has never been to a studio in his life, share with other yoga studio owners instead. If it’s something they want, are working toward or have, they’ll get it.
And if they don’t get it, it’s not your job to ensure they do.
Surround yourself with positivity, & you’ll be more positive, too.
